Let's get back to the basics to increase engagement in science! We'll talk independent and dependent variables, gathering qualitative and quantitative data, and easy ways for students to present and analyze their data to pin down those "investigte" verbs throughout science TEKS. We'll bring and brainstorm sample lab activities for different grade levels to get our science teams thinking bringing in more hands-on activities for kids to see and experience science and the analysis of trends!
I'm Hilary Kakanis and I teach physics and astronomy at the high school. I wear many different hats and do many different things, but most pertinent here is that I also serve as the tech coach for the HHS campus!I like digital review games, having students crunch data, and long walks... Read More →
Triangle-equations, linearization, PEMDAS... Let's work together to solidify a common language for mathematical processes between the math and science courses! Emphasis on algebraic reasoning steps and graphical analysis. Science will provide the problems and applications, math will talk us through the vocabulary they use to solve, and together we'll get on the same page for walking our students through these processes!
